Today, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, people have retreated indoors for safety and the demand for and consumption of household energy has increased. As the world’s largest producer of energy, the United States has access to a number of sources that are helping to meet this growing need. Yet, one in three American households face energy insecurity, particularly communities of color. Across the world, energy poverty is even more widespread.Â

On the sidelines of the 2020 Democratic Convention, The Hill will host a discussion with policymakers and energy experts to explore what can be done to ensure reliable, affordable access to energy while limiting the impact on the environment.
