Today, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, people have retreated indoors for safety and the demand for and consumption of household energy has increased. As the world’s largest producer of energy, the United States has access to a number of sources that are helping to meet this growing need. Yet, one in three American households face energy insecurity, particularly communities of color. Across the world, energy poverty is even more widespread.Â
